Fostering a Scalable and Collaborative Maker Culture with Continental

  • Details

Continental is an enterprise automotive component manufacturer with over 240,000 global employees and €44 billion in revenue. Two main factors drove Continental to revisit how they were building applications – changing customer and employee demands and the imperative to replace applications built in Lotus Notes and Domino in preparation for those platforms’ end-of-life in 2021. While using low-code as the mechanism for legacy replacement, Sven Fleischer, Global IT Team Lead, started to see larger organizational shifts in who and how applications were being developed as there were more opportunities for reuse, parameters to ensure quality, and accessibility beyond those with traditional development skillsets. In this video, hear from Fleischer on:

    • How their legacy replacement project became the springboard for citizen development across the organization.
    • How teams are structured to ensure proper input from both the business and IT as more apps are developed.
    • How the ease of collaboration low-code makes possible was integral to their adaptability and success during the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
    • His long-term enterprise low-code software vision as the team moves past legacy replacement.
